You should not clean them if you don't know what type of leather it is. To clean them you first take a small content of a soap (moisturizing soap) and work it into a lather softly. Next, you take a different piece of damp cloth and wipe off the soap lather that you created. Finally, you must take a dry towel and polish the sofa. If by chance, pieces of gum are stuck on your sofa, then try and freeze the gum so it becomes hard and easily comes off. You can freeze the gum by applying ice over it with the help of a zip lock bag. This is a very easy method which gives you good results.

If some residue of gum is still left try heating it with a hair dryer and then wipe the gum off with a dry cloth. Always be very gentle when cleaning your and always test the products you're using before applying them as using the wrong products may result in changing the color of your sofa. Leather wipes are also easy available and are very good and commonly used in cleaning leather sofas.
