Gorgeous Greys

Choosing the right color for your Chesterfield can be very tricky. Adding to this velvet as a choice of fabric doesn’t make things any better. Velvet can make the most stunning of colors look overly bright and unattractive. It can also transform average looking shades into a work of art. So what colors or shades should you pick so as to make the most out of your velvet Chesterfield sofa. I’d say, go for grey.

Grey is not everybody favorite color, I know. Grey is considered somber, dark and sometimes even boring. So why would you want to pick that color for your newly purchased Chesterfield? Why would you choose a color that is associated with rainclouds, ashes and dead bodies? Gr I could give you ten reasons but one sould suffice in this situation. It WORKS ON VELVET. The complex texture of velvet combined with the subtlety of gray work miraculously wonderfully. It’s the perfect marriage of fabric and color; a sweet symphony; a match made in heaven.

Now this is not to say I am blatantly promoting grey Chesterfield couches. I am simply stating the harmony between any velvety fabric and that color. In literature, grey is used to describe ashen faces, a melancholy weather, and a somber mood. But grey on velvet, and better yet a Chesterfield sofa is, for a lack of a better word, beautiful. Chesterfield denotes a sense of regality. Combined with grey, this elegance is taken to the next level. The dullness of the grey is transformed by the satiny velvet, making it look rich and mesmerizing.

Grey comes in plenty of shades from light to almost ashen black. I would suggest getting a few samples of different shades and looking at them under a light, in order to determine the right shade for you.
