Buying Imported Velvet Chesterfield Couches-Yay or Nay?

Authentic Chesterfield sofas are typically made in the United Kingdom as this is where this distinctive Victorian style couch first stemmed from. Nowadays though, with the advent of globalization, other countries have started manufacturing Chesterfield furniture as well. So what sets a UK based company that has been specializing in Chesterfield furniture for decades from a relatively newer factory in the Far East that produces the same stuff, such as velvet Chesterfield couches?

There are a couple of distinctions to be made between the two. The first is in the category or methods or techniques used. In the case of authentic UK companies, only hand-crafted Chesterfield couches, chairs, sets are produced. On the other hand, most of the other manufacturing or trading company mass-produce their furniture, including Chesterfield couches. This brings me to my next point: quality. A hand-made couch is typically of higher quality than one that is produced through machinery and although the difference is not monumental, it still exists.
Price is another definitive factor that plays into this debate. An authentic Chesterfield can be a highly pricey purchase, costing several thousand dollars per item. However, factory made velvet Chesterfield couches are very cheap and affordable, in comparison. Take for example, Alibaba.com, a website focusing on global trading. If one browses through their collection velvet Chesterfield couches, it can be seen that they tend to be less than a thousand dollars, on average, a startlingly low price.

There are disadvantages and advantages to either side of the debate. Several key factors such as quality and price play important parts in determining which Chesterfield couch is right for you. It is always good to look at both sides, read plenty of reviews and check one’s funds before making the decision on what kind of couch you want to purchase, and more importantly, where you want to get it from.
