White has always been one of my favorite colors. It oozes simplicity, innocence and sophistication. It also has chameleon like properties; white can be sexy but also understated; it can be bright but also soft. Then yesterday, while browsing for potential couches for my living room, I stumbled upon the Dorset Chesterfield sofa, a remarkable looking furniture item, that took my breadth away.
Now, I am not the biggest fan of antique furniture. As a matter of fact, I try straying away from it as much as possible. I’ve always opted for sleeker, edgier and modern designs as opposed to traditional styles. Therefore, it came to me as a shock at how much I liked the Chesterfield sofa. It was a classic Victorian style, all buttoned fabric and rich leather. I was in awe. The product description specified that this particular sofa, with over-sized arms and a leveled back, was hand-stuffed for additional coziness and longevity. It also had subtle details in the form of brass studs and bun-style feet in the most beautiful mahogany. The website claimed it was hand-made and stitched. In all honesty, it showed.
Quickly scanning over the price range, I realized that it fell right within my budget. But weren’t these types of couches supposed to cost a fortune? How am I able to afford it with less-than-average salary? Further scanning revealed that all the furnishing items on that particular website were on sale that week. I felt like it was Christmas. I scrolled down to the select style and color option. This was the tough bit. I finally located a luxuriant creamy white shade under the premium leather colors and I was all set. A few payment details and Voila, I had a lovely addition to my living room.
